what do I wear?
Complementing each other is ideal when it comes to what to wear, but matching? Not necessarily. Neutrals and jewel tones look great and a punch of colour on a hair accessory, scarf, vest, footwear, etc, definitely add flair to the feel of your session and look of your photos. Let children become a character and play, let them interact with each other and live in the moment. And it’s okay to do so through the use of clothing or props! For adults, try pretending like I’m a fly on the wall. Connect, interact, be with each other as you would in everyday life. If you want to try something different, go ahead and step outside of the box and into the shoot like a fashion model and have some extra fun! Nope, you don’t actually have to be a fashion model, but playing the role and letting loose translates immensely on film. Give it a shot, you won’t regret it! Besides, how often do YOU get to play?

rain or shine?
Have you ever seen a child’s face when she jumps through puddles after a spring rain? Pure joy. Photos don’t always need a blue sky and shining sun so if you’re game for a weather adventure, let me know! If the weather is just not what you had envisioned on the day of your shoot, we can always re-schedule because being pleased with your final images is a priority for not only you, but for me as well.

when will we see a sneak peek?
Typically a sneak peek of your session will be posted on the blog within a week of your session. Everyone who has a session will see a sneak peek! Sometimes I get a little more creative with the sneak peek images than what you may receive on your disc because the website and blog are a place to showcase my artistic nature. If there is something you see on my blog with your session that you particularly love and it does not make it to your disc, please let me know.

how soon will I get my photo disc? ** please see pricing page for more information on prints & dvd packaging
I’m just as anxious to have you see your photos as you are (honest!) but there is a method to my madness :)  Photography is art and I like to make sure your story is told in the best way possible, so initially I look through your images to see which ones jump out at me, but then I like to step away from the session and get a fresh set of eyes. I like to have your disc in the mail within a few weeks of your session (lifestyle photography) but if things are time-sensitive, please let me know.

how many photos will there be on my disc?
It varies. I shoot, shoot, shoot at your session until I think I have what is needed. I won’t include 100 unique shots on a disc because that is too overwhelming for you to sort through and decide on prints; think back to the days of film and when 24 exposures often did the trick. We are looking to tell a story with your session and I truly believe that more is less. I don’t want you paralyzed by an endless array of images, rather, I want you to choose, print and enjoy the memories in both your mind and in your hands as soon as you possibly can.

what will the edits look like?
I edit your photos in photoshop but I don’t consider myself an over-editor. Ok, maybe I’m a partial photoshop junkie but there is a time and place for extensive edits. I love the “creative processing” portion of photography but I also like photos to speak for themselves as much as possible. Included on your disc will be a colour version of an image as well as a variety of other edits including minor blemish touch-ups, contrast, exposure, tone, etc. I don’t generalize and say black & white because the non-colour version isn’t always black and white. Now, I LOVE black and white images, they show the depth of emotion in a photo, the story, and tend to be my fav kind of shot, but I tend to like a warmer tone with subtle hints of red and brown versus stark black and white. Then again, some images scream black and white so you never know. That’s the best thing about digital photography – you can be an artist with the smallest control of your mouse and photoshop. But sometimes an extra special photo shows up and sparks extra creative flair … does it happen often? You bet!

sharing.
Seeing you post your photos online and sharing them with family and friends via email is the best compliment ever. I love it! Word of mouth is a great form of business and I thank you in advance for properly crediting my work and respecting my time and effort by sourcing all images posted on a public forum by using watermarked images and including my website and/or blog.
